I never felt like Damon was in any kind of danger. Every time there was a problem a solution was found almost immediately. Also the humour was just cringy.

All of it was Cringy. 4. Other than special effects being pretty good, this was just another Armageddon ridiculous joke of a movie.

I also think that way.
The Martian will never be a trully sci-fi movie, but a space comedy instead.
It's just a funny USA/NASA propaganda flick with nice VFX.

At least 17,000 people think it is mediocre or worse. That is the approximate number of votes on IMDb that are "5" or lower.

Why should that surprise anyone?

Yeah it was way overrated. The story was fine but all those cloying attempts at humor. Disgusting. It just didn't work. How much Matt Damon mugging for the camera, can a person take.

A real snoozefest, with absolutely nothing to say about anything. And SO predictable! With about 6000 plot holes you could drive a freight train through.

Movie was just ok. Matt damon was just to annoying trying to be funny..I think he took the disco music joke way too far, as well as dipping a potato in crushed vicodin was that him trying to be cool or funny? Overall I like to watch it when im trying to fall asleep it works every time.

Vicodin is a fairly strong appetite suppressant. Given his rationing it would make sense to do something like that.
