shareI agree - at least Part 1. It had a much better narrative flow and even if the women didn't look remotely like the products of a harsh nomadic life, there was some real sense of patriarchy colliding with an earlier tradition.
I find it fascinating that archaeologists find no evidence that the Jews were monotheistic before the Babylonian exile. Definitely afterward - in fact, it defined them - but during the time of David and Solomon there were household idols by the thousands everywhere they dug up. Clearly a great deal of history was back written!
