A memorable, personal film

Leave it to veteran French director Philippe Garrel to again offer a dash of Nouvelle Vague intrigue in his highly stylized In the Shadow of Women. Fans of the genre will certainly be enticed and seduced by a most authentic film, in which the stark black and white Parisian streets looks timeless in cinematographer’s Renato Berta’s beautifully shot frames. Jean-Louis Aubert, the film’s composer, adds musical romanticism in his piano-and-guitar score: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/reviews/in-the-shadow-of-women/
