that bit with Mel talking to his daughter as he fixes the bike (just after the DuskTillDawn/Grindhouse guy gives the daughter as berating on the sofa) Mel gives this look as he talks about his poisoned soul and sort of shakes his head..
its the character but also we know Mel is talking about himself, his regrets ..
