He's atoned..... to the Mexicans.

His last couple films..... Get the Gringo, Rodriguez's Machete 2, and this one, Blood Father.... Gibson is seen cozying up to the Mexicans or appearing in predominantly Mexican films.

This is commendable.... It seems intentional, to rebuild his image.... However, his disparaging remarks were never about the Mexicans... it was Jews and Blacks... Perhaps, this is his way of kind of circling the wagons, and coming in where he can.... maybe where they'll let him.

I'm not slamming the guy... I like Mel... Just observing something.

Gibson has always had a huge Mexican following. Over a decade ago he donated tons of money to victims of a major hurricane in Mexico. A Mexican nationalist site named Aztlan backed him 100% following his anti-Semitic recordings and Passion of the Christ was a huge among Mexican catholics.

Gibson got a raw deal from Hollywood all because he made a movie about Jesus.

Don't forget Apocalypto starred mostly mexicans. I don't think it's any atonement thing. I think first off, Mexican-American films are easier to make with a controversial star. Plus he genuinely clearly has a love for the culture. To the point where I wouldn't be surprised the fruitpicker scene was added to ensure nobody bemoaned the film for having the "stereotypicxal mexicans" trope stuff.

Mel Gibson swore about the Jews while drunk. Sean Penn, Russell Crowe and Emma Roberts beat the hell out of other human beings, and people still let them work fine. I'm not condoning anything Gibson said, he clearly has a few problems like the rest of us. But he's gotten the hard end of the stick compared to people like Penn who TIED MADONNA TO A CHAIR AND THREATENED TO KILL HER!
