It is a low budget indie b-movie
So do not expect it to be like a high budget action

No, it's spot on. The script is just straight-to-video stuff fit for Steven Seagal. The talent involved elevates it a bit.

shareYup. Supremely underrated. This was the best action film of 2016. The motorcycle chase and the desert shootout were two of the best action scenes last year.
shareI agree that this movie should be rated much higher but this isn't really low budget indie b-grade at all.
While not his best movie, for a late Mel Gibson entry it's solid enough in the action/dialog dept (7.5).
shareI would give it a 7,5 too. I watched Dragged Across Concrete recently (which I really loved) and now I've been revisiting some of Mel's movies. Blood Father was so much better than what I remembered, it does seem a little underrated.
