Cancelled!!!

According to the latest news, the "syfy", know-nothing, execu-douches have cancelled "The Wil Wheaton Project" after only one season. WTF??? Yet wrestling, which has nothing to do with Science Fiction, as far as I can tell, still has a place in their line up. Way to cancel a show while it's still trying to find its legs. Douches. I'm glad I quit watching your stain of a channel after Battlestar Galactica and Caprica ended. Just keep showing wrestling and B-movies about shark-related, weather systems and wait while the channel continues to die slowly.

reply

Not enough fish related weather disasters.

I think the problem with SyFy is NBC, ever since NBC bought SyFy and G4 during the Cable TV boom, both channels have gone down hill and the purchase was done to eliminate some up and coming competition. NBC saw the rise of cable of TV and channels like SyFy and G4 as a threat, so why not buy them when the bidding is low and run them into the ground. Was the Will Wheaton Project the best on TV, no not really, however it was entertaining and innovative and had ratings comparable to Talk Soup, bottom line is that NBC will not let good shows air on syfy andwould rather have disposable reality TV shows, wreatling or bad movies. I remember when shows on SyFy were innovative and they had original shows and movies, with someof their best shows lasting over five years, like Star Gate. Now any show on SyFy is on the five year time clock and will eventually get replaced by reality shows and wrestling, I also remember that they would do innovative movies, sure they were not the best, however they were innovative, now they make completely bad movies. SyFy used to be good, now that it is under NBC, NBC calls all the shots. If you want blame anybody blame NBC because they have ran obth SyFy and G4 into the ground.

reply

SyFy ceased being about science fiction when they changed their name. It's about make believe. In which case wrasslin' fits in perfectly.

Also, The Wil Wheaton Project sucked...BADLY!!

reply

Even though I've never seen this show, you're absolutely right about the name change.

Back when it was called the Sci-Fi Channel or just plain old Sci-Fi, I used to love their programming. Everything from Mystery Science Theater 3000 to Warehouse 13 was pure entertainment.

I stopped watching SyFy when the last episode of Warehouse 13 was on the air. Now I don't even bother tuning in unless they run a bunch of repeats of older shows.

reply

Actually Warehouse 13 was promoted as the first new "Syfy" series, starting up after the name change (which took place shortly after Battlestar Galactica ended).

reply

Eh, it was okay. Not great, not bad just...okay.
I hope Wil doesn't take it too hard. "Sci Fi Channel" cancels a lot of shows that could keep going if they let them. Anyone remember 'Sci Fi Vortex'? It coulda lasted longer. Sometimes I just don't understand the channel executives while other times I just don't understand the channel's viewers. 'Wil Wheaton Project' gets canned while wrestling, 'Ghost Hunters' and all those horrible B- direct-to-video trainwrecks SyFy Channel calls "prime-time programming" trudge on with multimillion dollar contracts while advertisers line up to suck their . . . well you know where I'm going with that.
*sigh*
It's a sign of the times. Make peace with your maker and grab that special bullet you've been saving to blow your brains all over the kitchen wall because they just moved the doomsday clock up to one minute till midnight. We had some great times didn't we? I'll bet we all get that feeling of deja vu when spacetime loops back and we're doing this all over again. What a ride that's gonna be.

I miss Saturday Morning Cartoons, too! I grew up on them.

This is such bull *beep* This show was hilarious. I was finally starting to get past the alphas cancellation. *beep* syfy and NBC. They make foolish cancellations and waste their money.

reply

I saw The Wil Wheaton Project but was not impressed. It just didn't have any pizzazz to it and ran out of steam. That's the breaks, Wil.

reply

This show must be burning in hell now.

reply

Dayyum, dude! I hope Wil wasn't expecting any sympathy from you.
