I was really excited about this movie and to see Sarah go from goofy ignorant comic, to meryl streep. Sarah was great.. But the content of the film is very 1 dimensional and falls flat. It lacks character exposition and resolve. I'm not expecting Sarah's character to do a full 180, or end on getting better.. But it just ends abruptly at the climax. She does these self destructive things, and keeps building and building, until she is nearly raped and mugged, then comes home and makes her kids sandwiches, sees her husband, then leaves the house. I want to know what happens to this woman! Where does she go? Is she leaving her life? Is this just an ordinary day for her?

The way I saw it, she left her family just as her father left her - family was too much for them, she couldn't handle the heartbreak.

she realized she didnt deserve her family after hitting rock bottom and knew she either had to go back to rehab or leave her family for a long time until she was fit to be a responsible mother. her husband was probably done with her though.
