Great performance, mediocre film brings it down

It was the same problem with Jennifer Aniston's "Cake." Mostly comedic actress plays damaged, depressing character in a very good performance that no one remembers because some untalented indie filmmaker makes it just like every other subpar character study out there. When it could be so much more. In both of these movies, the lead actresses were so good it's just a shame they didn't have better people behind the camera.
