Brad Pitt, START acting your age...

Here we go again, it looks like Brad is acting a character 20 years younger than himself.

In reality the guy is mid 50s. How about he starts accepting mid 50s roles?!

reply

He seems to like CGI de-aging and therefore is unwilling to accept his age. Still, he is in a much better position that actresses of his age.

He needs to show some maturity.

His character Wardaddy in Fury may have participated in WWI as well. If Wardaddy was 20 years old in WWI he'd be 51 when the movie takes place.

Look at By the Sea where he plays a middle-aged man struggling in marriage.

In The Big Short he is a retired banker.

And if you really want to see him old just wait for War Machine this year. Here's a photo of him on set: http://www.etonline.com/news/2016/01/24211509/550_editFFN_Brad_Pitt_1_CHP_013116_51960112.jpg

Besides, so what if an actor wants to play a role not his age? There is a reason it's called acting...

reply

I don't think his character in Fury served in World War I. It was only mentioned that Wardaddy and his crew had been together since the campaigns in North Africa and Italy - both referring to World War II.

How about you quit telling objectively successful people what they need to do and worry about your own life.

Stop hating on Brad Pitt lol you act like he looks like a grandpa even though he probably is. Acting is acting. If you can pull off a 25-30 male character still then why is it a problem? I'm sure he plays older characters sometimes too. You gotta milk the young roles while you can bcuz soon the old Morgan freeman roles are all he'll be able to play. He won't have a choice but to play those ones

reply

In this case they probably should have found an actor more Cotillard's age, but he can get away with it in other roles cos he still looked young enough. But not so much in this role

Brad Pitt is 53 years old: in real life a man can fall in love at any age and a man and actor as Brad Pitt, with his charisma and physique and talent, may play roles of men in love perfectly well! If there is an actor of his age who can do that, this actor is Brad Pitt. There aren´t many others, in my opinion. So he can play many roles, and one of them is a man in love.

The people bashing him for this are the nutty fanbots that are upset that he is getting divorced from his wife. I saw this movie, and he was fine in the role. Some people are lucky and just look younger than they are....BP is one of those people. I say good for him.

Of course it's CGI. Can't you tell? Look at his face it looks weird and the expressions look odd. It is CGI de-age you just have to look closer.

The whole movie es CGI (desert and sex scenw in car, roof background, almost all of the movie).

I watched Allied yesterday and I'm watching Meet Joe Black today and he looks older in Meet Joe Back. It's Ridiculous!

The older roles one plays, generally, the better their acting chops tend to need to be. Pitt's acting isn't 'the pits' per se, but he really only works [well] in eccentric roles (e.g., Fight Club, Snatch, 12 Monkeys, Inglorious Basterds) or where he plays naive characters (e.g., Se7en).

In Tree of Life, for example, he was poorly cast. So, although he may not be Will Smith level miscast in roles requiring gravitas, his acting archetype is ill-suited for them. Despite this, however -- and not unlike the infamous Smith -- he seems blind to his own limitations.

Actually in the "The Tree of Life" he gave one of his last good performances. He deserved no less to be oscar nominated for this than "Moneyball"

He was around 53 and I'm not sure what the age of the character was supposed to be - perhaps late 30s or even 40? If you find that casting unacceptable, then how about Marion Cotillard? She was 41 but I doubt that was meant to be her character's age - or she would be having her child around 43, which was really pushing the limit (with risks to the child).

reply

He just seems on a mission to make movies that stimulate his own ego.

reply

He was wonderfully cast in "The tree of life"!
Until you judge his performances according to his looks I think you won´t get Brad Pitt´s acting style....And in this case , he plays the character of a man who falls in love with a woman who is a bit younger, something which is very real.

reply

Pitt was in his early fifties, but could easily pass for thirties, especially in the early 1940s, when young people had a more mature demeanor and appearance. No problem.
