But the second episode was *so much* better

I agree with the earlier posters who wrote after seeing the first episode, which was clunky in every way (especially the dialogue, everybody spoke in exposition), but the second episode had a completely different feel to it. The dialogue was more natural, the country music trope (and quirks in general) became atmospheric instead of shoved down everybody's throats, and you began to see the charm of the main characters.

While I was cringing all the way through the first episode, I thought the second was fun. I hope next week's is even better.

The second episode was marginally better but it never improved so much that the failings of the first episode could be forgotten. I watched the others in the hope of seeing major improvement but it never happened, and I barely paid much attention at all by the last episode.

One of these days there will appear on NZ television a homegrown show that can compete with the best from anywhere. When that's going to happen is the big question, but I pray it does.

Nothing Trivial matches and exceeds most American tv.

I thought the second episode was awful, mainly because the acting was terrible and the dialogue worse. Both actors and writers are guilty of amateurism.

reply

Agreed. As much as I tried, I couldn't stick with it.
