I thought Briarios was human in his pre-Olympian days....

I'm confused. Why is Briarios full cyborg in his film? In the first Appleseed, Briarios was thought to have died and after Deunan is plucked from the wasteland, Deunan is shocked to find him alive and in his new body.

Writer decided to rewrite the story - it would be more akin to a reboot, although I couldn't quite call it that.
