Where is her body armor?

I don't seem to see any body armor in the preview pics, just a low cut tank top.

Will she be wearing something practical in the movie or will this just be fanservice all the way?

reply

Only way to find out is by watching it, I suppose.

Watching it now. It is not really body armor, more like a battle harness, maybe part of a battle dress but not complete. It is a dystopian type story.

Just hope there are more of this.

she gets the body-armor by the end of the film...this is a prequel of sorts.
Nova.

Well of course its that creepy Jap, teen fanboy style but it was funny how she had amour of sorts all over except for her pretty heaving chest

reply

I liked how the old bumper from EX Machine underline her ass!

reply

Well, they're living in a sort of Mad Max-style scavenger world... I would say good working armor would be pretty hard to come by. Not to mention that most of the characters remaining are cyborgs who don't use armor so I find it understandable why Deunan doesn't have much in the way of battle protection.

On every board there are people like yourself, whining about what characters wear in movies/games/comics. I think she looks great, sure her breasts are a little large, but otherwise the exposed tummy look suits her well. Wearing a tank top in a desert is pretty damn practical, have you been in extreme heat before? There are plenty of politically correct feminist-skewed TV shows and movies for you to watch otherwise if you don't like this one. People like you will make sure all movies have plump women in sweatpants or full body armour come ten years time, shudder.

reply

Did you see the last 2 films? Deunan looked hotter in those films with the armor. I agree with the op because I found her silly in this one and felt they had slightly ruined the badassness of the deunan I've come to adore just for the sake of titillation. Which in my opinion totally backfired because she looked way hotterr before anyway. I just can't take her seriously with her tits all hanging out.

reply

Why can't a female show a little skin AND also be taken seriously? It's a ridiculous (mostly male) attitude that annoys me. Each to their own, but i don't find full body armour "way hotter", she was sexier in this movie and almost as badass, remember, it is a prequel. No amount of tummy exposure or large breasts made me less able to take her seriously, that type of attitude is rather insulting to females in general.

reply

of course a woman can show skin and be taken seriously... I don't dispute that at all.

its just the way they modelled this deunan.. it was just strange.. I mean shes pretty armoured up anyway and then just leaves the most important bit (that being her chest) totally exposed.. in fact if she didn't have any armour at all then it would have been better... because at least then it wouldn't seem odd.

it just seemed to much like the creators just wanted to have her tits hanging out for no good reason other than to have her with her tits hanging out..

i'm all for fan service but I think it could have been done better than this. why not just have a few scenes with her skimpily dressed or even nude... that's fine.

Point im making is i'm definitely not against a hot deunan showing skin and being taken seriously...

But having her running around with armour everywhere apart from her chest is just ridiculous.

And masseffect... the full body armour from the first two films was pretty much skin tight and sexy as hell.

reply

I'm a female I found her cleavage distracting for a good chunk of the movie. All I kept thinking is why she wouldn't wear something that protects her chest- there's some pretty vital stuff underneath there that probably wouldn't take too kindly to a bullet.

It doesn't detract from her badassedness because she is, imo, one of the most awesome fictional ladies ever created. But I get what you're saying.

Agree!

Armor everywhere? She basically just has lacrosse style shoulder pad attached to a shoulder holster harness. Hardly "everywhere".

reply

She was easily at her best in the manga. Both in terms of her appearance and personality. She dressed appropriately but her physique was a lot more muscular than in any film, making her much more believable as a badass. In Alpha she's not only wearing impractical clothing but also looks too skinny to be able to perform a lot of her activities, such as not even feeling the recoil of an assault rifle.

reply

I just checked out the images of her in the body armor and you're right, she DOES look better... if you're into dudes.

Boobs are bullet and blade-proof. Everyone knows that. Also naked hips and thighs. Princess Xena proved that in the Stone Age.
