Mistake to watch this first?

I happened to come across it, watched it and walked away confused. Are the first two films worth my time if I want to know who the protagonists and antagonists were or why they did the things they did?

I see no cast listing for Talos in the first two films, the biggest reason for my confusion.

This film is arguably a prequel to the original 1988 film. If it's the alpha, the disenchantment with Olympus surely is the omega.

I assume you mean the 2 films made in the early 2000's. (the first film being the late 80s one)... and.. yes.. definitely worth your time they are both far superior to this..

I disagree. This was a great prequel and you can safely watch it before the next two.

I watched this one before the other two as well. I watched it all backward. The graphics in this one is awesome, but the storyline if the first Appleseed is the best, and explains the term Appleseed. This one's more like a reboot, and the only major difference is that Deunan didn't know Briareos' condition in the first one, but she's aware of it here. And the characters like Hitomi, Athena, Nike, etc. Aren't in this one, but considering it is a reboot, they'll probably introduce then in later movies.

in my opinion, it's a mistake to watch it at all. it's the most boring of all the appleseed stories.
