What you see....

Is not always what you get..... That's the basis of this "chick flick". It's just another example of a woman influenced to work off a check list for her perfect guy and purposely reject what's in front of her. Her heart tells her one thing but she defers to a shallow concept of stature, money and success (appearance over substance) and it bites her in the ass. Rightly so since it overshadowed all the warnings. Being a chick flick with a cookie cutter plot, after rejecting the good guy, she ends up getting him anyway along with the happy ending with no real ramifications for choosing so poorly.

I think part of that is due to the scheming best friend, who also gets no sort of comeuppance for being so scheming,

Almost again went into formula of Romeo and Juliet. Romances with meddlers always have risks to go R & J.
Never liked meddlers; personal lives are called PERSONAL for a reason.

reply

Well, it is sexist to expect women to be responsible for their poor choices.

But at the very least, one thing - An Element(Death, Time, Nature, Fate, Love and Darkness; the Six Elements) always gets its ways, Element Love especially. If not all the time, at least in here - when you're marked by it, you're marked. The heart knows what it wants, and there's no use defending, preparing, resisting, or trying to brush it off; Element Love's weapon has no cure.

Love, Time, Nature, Darkness, Fate, Death. Six Prime Elements of the Universe. Non-corporeal. Abstract. Eternal. Supreme powers surpassing God Himself. Non-defendable.
