No questions answered

I was shocked. Beyond shocked. They announced that many questions would be answered in this 'finale' and no question was answered and this didn't even act like a finale.

The MANY unanswered questions. There may even be more.

Why did the Tall Man target Mike?

Did the Tall Man put the golden sphere in Mike's head, or was it always there?

What is the purpose of the golden spheres?

What is the purpose of the dwarfs?

What is the purpose of the zombies?

Why does the Tall Man not dwarf all the dead bodies, and keeps some at normal size?

Is the Tall Man an alien? If so, are there other aliens like him, or is there just one of him, but in every time dimension?

If the Tall Man is not an alien, is Jebidiah evil? And what are or is the Tall Man?

Whatever became of Jebidiah?

Can a sphere be killed if it's hologram head is drilled into?

Just how much did the fortune teller know?

Does the fortune teller and her granddaughter work for the Tall Man? Are they zombies?

Were the fortune teller and her granddaughter working against the Tall Man?

Whatever happened to the fortune teller and her granddaughter?

Whatever happened to Mike's golden sphere?

Why did the Tall Man sound afraid when Reggie demanded Mike and Jodi back?

Was the time dimensinal jumping the Tall Man trying to stop Reggie?

How are Jodi and Mike back alive, and out of the Tall Man's control?

Why does Mike fully trust Jodi when he sees him?

Why didn't Mike's body die after the golden sphere was removed?

If the series was really all the imagination of Reggie, then why does it continue after he dies in the hospital?

After the Tall Man was tired of him,why did he kill Reggie?

How does Mike still have a connection with the Tall Man even after the sphere was removed?

What does Mike having a connection to the Tall Man still, mean?

How did that little person survive being blown up, and the only real damage is a missing hand?

The Tall Man can appear again right after he was killed, what does that mean, since in Ravager in all of his worlds, there is only one of him?

Is the Tall Man a hologram for the golden spheres since he has one in his head? Or are the golden spheres put into Tall Man bodies?

If the golden spheres are put into Tall Man bodies, where does he keep them?

Why is that funeral home so important to the Tall Man?

What are the functions of the giant spheres? Are they ships, or just big spheres with brains that are ment for destruction? Do the golden spheres have anything to do with them?

The Tall Man calls Mike an experiment. What did he mean?

What about the girl from movie 2? Did SHE have a golden sphere in her head, since the Tall Man was after her?

If she was valuable like Mike, or even if she wasn't, why didn't he remove the sphere (if she had one) after she died, or at least taken her body instead of having the Lurkers feast on it?

Why does the Tall Man have or need brains in the spheres when we saw Mike being able to control one without a brain?

Why do the spheres have holographic projectors, and why are they like flesh and blood?

Tall man said there's many more like him and many more dimensions that Reggie wouldn't understand but that was about it. such a horrible movie in such craptacular end to the series.

There were some parts of the movie I liked, but the ones that sucked outweighed it by a long shot.

I have heard an old phrase online before, "If you think you can do a better job, let's see." I welcome that challenge. Will it be a movie? No. But I WILL write a proper finale that fans will get behind more so than this. And I also plan (it depends on the cost) but I plan on turning my script into a web comic. It WILL answer questions and it WILL act like a finale. And I may even pull some of the good stuff from this movie in order to make it the best story I can.

Probably the don't care part.

Again with this? Look at the show LOST. That show left 0 to the imagination when they decided to ANSWER EVERY QUESTION by saying everyone is dead and in purgatory. A twist that we all saw coming from the very beginning. How can they explain everything in Phantasm without going a similar route?

Based on all the questions you've asked, this film needed to be a two hour monologue that explained every plot hole to the T... Sounds awful. I'm glad we didn't get that.

Phantasm has all been the unexplainable. We don't know if the events of Part 1 happened in one Dimension. We don't know how Alchemy was dead on the table and then alive and well with Reggie and Mike. We don't know why Michael had a gold orb in his head. We don't know why Michael has telekinetic powers in Oblivion. They just are.

I don't know why I dream about the things I dream. I just do. Phantasm is the delusion of the disordered mind. If they gave clarity to everything on the screen, that, by definition, is not PHANTASM.

There are ways to answer the questions. Subtly, smart and without over thinking. The movie could have been a lot better, and answer at least a few questions.

Who cares? How about fans who had many of the same questions since the films came out?

How would you like it if at the beginning of the third Matrix movie, Neo was rescued off screen, and they just gloss over it or just ignore it?

What if in the first Jurassic Park movie it never gets explained how the dinosaurs were made or escaped?

What if in Harry Potter it never talked and explained how he is connected to Tom Riddle?

Just to nane a few examples. It is called good story telling and good writing. You want to leave a couple questions unanswered? Fine. But you cannot just not answer anything, or have the answer for everything just be an evil shrug. That is poor storytelling and poor writing.

I would be willing to let many things pass had the movie been rushed. But it wasn't. It started filming back in 2008. There is no excuse for the poor quality we were given.

reply

In LOST seasons 1-5 they were not in purgatory. It wasn't until season 6 in which it shows what happened after the series conclusion and then then they were in purgatory.

reply

These questions are now irrelevant. The whole thing was delusion due to Reggie's dementia.

You can't palm off a second-rater on me. You gotta remember I was in the pink!

I'd be willing to believe that, stupid plot point that it was be, except for one big detail. Jody was with Mike and Reggie when Reggie "died". And one thing that was true, even if it was all in Reggie's head, is that Jody was still dead.

Not to mention on the side that how can someone be looking for their friend, if in reality that friend visits almost every day.

Too many holes in the idea it's all in his head. And if that is what it gets said in the commentary, that is very poor writing for something that was started all the way back in 2008 and could have been written much better than it was.

All of the unanswered questions are what make this series fun and re-watchable to me. But I think inferences can be made for some of those questions.

I just finished watching the entire series (1-4 many times) with the 5th one for the first time, and it just made me go back and start over immediately. I love the openness.

reply

Love all the questions! Really great ones. I honestly think Chuck survived the explosion because he was never 'real'. Only someone Reggie made up in his head. That is really the only question I even somewhat have an answer too. I also like the theory of it all being something Reggie made up during his dementia. I can see that. I have two theories myself on the movies and what they could mean but all those questions I still have no answers to. Haha.

reply

I think the only theory that holds any weight is the one i've held onto for quite a while, and they pretty much acknowledge that in Ravager - Multiple/parallel universe/dimension theory. It makes sense from the beginning - even from the first one.

I had the exact same issues with this movie, which wasn't at all worth the wait. I wanted them to wrap up the story with a definitive ending that explained all the loose ends but what I got instead was even more questions and confusion. I don't think the makers even have the answers and were just making it up as they went along. I can't believe what a let-down this film was. A very disappointing finale that just felt like yet another series of continuous bad dreams with no reasoning.
