Great for what it was

I was very entertained by this movie. I'm trying to judge it for what it was. Unfortunately after it was over i felt i really learned nothing about James out of his being an entertainer.

There was only the small bit about how he was quiet and only talked about himself.

I mean these guys were on the road together for decades so they must have interacted a bit or had convo's. I wish it touched a bit more on when he wasn't performing.

I learned a lot about him and his life in this documentary and as an avid fan, I thought I knew it all. I thought it was excellent, particularly with the commentary by his band members.

I agree. It was pretty shallow, but the performance clips more than made up for the thin narrative.

The political posturing and flapping jaw of the odious Al Sharpton were a bringdown.

I have not lost any respect for James Brown after viewing this film. James Brown was a MAN.

I liked it but it zoomed past his latter part of his career.

Its that man again!!

reply

Yeah, it's like he just disappeared. I learned more about James Brown watching Get on Up but I loved watching his performances in this documentary. Definitely never be another entertainer like him. One of a kind.

It's a shame he supported Nixon.

Elvis also supported Nixon.

I wonder if Tricky Dicky had something on them!

It's that man again!!
