A Great Homage to the Shaw Brothers

I think this one was a much better homage to the classic Shaw brothers films. I did like the first one, but at no time during the first film did I feel any dez ja vous to the classic films. maybe some spoilers below:

1. definitely lower budget than the first one (which is true homage to the classics)
2. no guns
3. synthetic body parts
4. 'ultimate showdown' properly built
5. alot of 'b' well known faces but no stars
6. cute and strong women with morals

Now RZA's tracks in between scenes were a great addition. A more modern score. I would love more low budget films from RZA like this. Hopefully the low budget allows this to turn a profit and spurn out endless low budget sequels like the shaw brothers did.

This movie is so bad it made me cry after 5 min..then I clawed my way to the TV to shut it off... I will go Watch my lawn grow now..that makes me cry less....

I'm with you on it being a fine Shaw Bros. homage, but it needs more fights (or more long sequences of people training impressively). There was a bit too much talking, in my opinion.

I've seen plenty of Shaw Brother movies in my life time. Was lucky enough to live in a city that had 2 theatres that showed mainly Martial Arts movies. This was a nice homage to SB movies. Really liked the soundtrack. Flawed but still enjoyable for a long time fan of MA movies. But just like the first one, it needed more fight scenes.

Why you bastard. You better get out here, before you find yourself, IN A WHOLE LOT OF TROUBLE.

I respect your opinion but this movie will be more way better with good acting, honestly.

THRILLER IS MY FOOD!

I disagree, a homage would have been a story about an existing chinese legend or historical figure just as SB and GH did in the majority of their films. This was nothing more than a work of modern day fiction with no real accuracy to the elements portrayed and dressed up to try and look like a decent wuxia movie.

Totally agree. If RZA was "serious" about jianghu but still wanted to inject himself into the lore, he should simply have someone write a screenplay about the Cheng Ho/Zheng He sea voyage to Arabia / East Africa.
