STFU All haters. You have to watch this move more than once to get it.

I wasn't blown away the first time I watched it, but it's on cable now and I watched it a second time and got it. This is a very subtle move. The scene with Meryl and Audra McDonald with Meryl in the towel is *beep* amazing. Pretty sure Meryl had a big say in casting Audra who has won like five Tonys and is one of the greatest living actresses today (Watch her play Billie Holiday on HBO). Then Meryl goes up against her in a scene that is written for her to lose and she does and it was brilliant. Don't want to spoil it but wait for the ending. It goes from cringeworthy to triumphant. This is one of those movies you have to watch a few times to really appreciate. Looking forward to the next time it is on Starz.

I've seen it twice and I have to disagree. And how rude to say "STFU HATERS!!" We just didn't enjoy the movie in the same way you did.

Meryl Streep tired to give some depth and nuance to Ricki and there is some stuff we can infer about her that is interesting, like her brother dying in Vietnam and her supporting the Troops and also the War in Iraq.

Audra McDonald is great in this. She and Streep's scene in the bedroom was one (if not the) best scene in the movie. Not only does she sing like an angel, she can act too. I loved her in the remake of Raisin in the Sun where she reprises from the Broadway revival.

I thought Juno was a great movie with a lot of heart, I thought Jennifer's Body had some interesting things in it, but was a let down. Young Adult had an interesting central character, but was unlikable and the lawn scene at the end took the movie from a 7 to a 6 for me. Long story short, I'm beginning to think D. Cody isn't that talented after all.

Ricki and The Flash = 5.5/10

Edit: I read the script before work the other morning. It wasn't great, and I hate how Cody writes dialogue for young people (especially women) but Streep's character was very interesting. By the way, Ricki is 54 in the script and good singer...

I get it. Financing was probably approved overnight when she signed on.

You couldn't pay me to watch this thing again. It's like every cliché ever put to film was served up, with an extra helping of cheese.

I could never sit through this trainwreck again. Once was hard enough.

I prefer fantasy over reality TV - like Fox News. - B.Streisand

What is that dance called they do at the very end of the movie?

Many of the "haters" didn't even both watching half of it before shooting their mouths off. It could have been better, but I didn't consider it a waste of time, either.

I wouldn't be interested in seeing this one again. Not particularly inspiring.

Interesting to see Streep and Kline reunited (Sophie's Choice 1982).

I'm with @brockmeeks that you're rude in your STFU haters remark. Simmer down.
Anyway, I had expectations to love this movie and was quite disappointed. I did watch until the end... And I tried to like it! Maybe I will try watching it again down the line but for now... I'm good.
