The ULTIMATE Friendzone film :P

!SPOILER ALERT!

So, this chick ignored him for years, then, one night, shows up at his house and suddenly, he drops everything to find her when she disappears the next day...

only to drive 1000 miles up to NY to find out he's always been friendzoned?

HahahahaAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sounds like a typical high school kid.

reply

That is an excellent synopsis.

kid was a loser. should have taken a look in the mirror and he would have known he didn't stand a chance.

She offered to have him stay with her and he said no. If anything, he "friendzoned" her.

reply

^ The ultimate revenge, wouldn't you say?

but she made it pretty abundantly clear that she 'just wasn't that into him'...she would have liked to have a accomplice to her adventuring....at best he would have been in a friends with benefits relationship with her...

reply

Because she owed him something after showing no interest in him?

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

reply

No one said she did..in fact OP highlighted how dumb this kid was. He hung out with her once in 10 years or something and assumed he was in love with her/it might be reciprocated.

reply

I agree with you. Had he not just been her puppet to do those stupid pranks, Ironically she would have been more interested in him for standing up to her . Women and men are attracted to those that stand their ground. Therein lies the irony of human nature.

The point of the ending (which was better conveyed in the book) was that Q had Margo up on a pedestal from the time they were kids, and after all of his efforts to find her again, he finally gets close enough to see who she really was - not the idealized version of her that he's always wanted her to be, but someone with major flaws. I don't think that can be whittled down to getting friendzoned. If anything, he was the one who learned and grew throughout the film, so he gained what he needed... while Margo remained stagnant and continued to run from her problems.

And like another poster mentioned, Q was the one who rejected Margo in the end, as it should have been. She could never match up with the version of her that he had dreamed up in his head, and to be honest, he could do better than her anyways.

reply

That's how I kind of took it as well. He was in love with the idea of Margo, not Margo herself. At first, her "myterious" ways created an allure and he created this idealized and romantic image of of her in his head, and he proceeded to fall for that. Once he went on his journey, he found that the real Margo wasn't appealing at all.

I never saw her as a free spirit so much as an individual with serious psychological problems that she masks with a carefree attitude. I've known and been friends with several free spirited people over the years, who lived life on their terms, traveled, fell in and out of love, and so forth, but they never behaved like Margo.

reply

This kid was almost as bad as Ser Jorah.

reply

Yep.

"Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?!"

reply

There's no such thing as the "friendzone". Educate yourself.

If I don't reply, you're probably on my ignore list for something I forgot already

reply

I know right? It's gotten so old.
