The Teenager

Was their eldest really like that? All 21st Century strop and attitude in the 1930s? Or just writers who wanted to 'spice it up.' Children back then were much more respectful of authority.

"Teenager or not, her attitude stems directly from how the whole family is"

Or how the BBC are portraying them.

The real June Williams (nee Mottershead) is acting as a consultant for the series but some things will be put in as artistic licence.

I loved the 3rd episode and how Mew's (Muriel's) character is developing. She is starting to take more notice of and support her dad's dedication to starting a 'zoo without bars'. A touching moment was when she turned the van’s headlights on after she notices him still digging the moat for the bear enclosure late at night. It's lovely to see her caring nature emerging, as she warms to the animals and shows concern for their well being.

I know the real Mew had just turned 15 when she moved to Chester in 1930. It was not easy. She worked very long hours and incredibly hard as did all her family to establish the zoo.
