I got about 20 minutes in and literally fell asleep because NOTHING had happened. Yes, the girl dies in the beginning, but then it's just 20 minutes of following this very sad girl around. There's barely any dialogue. Ugh!

You didn't miss anything. Watching paint dry is more interesting than this film.

Opening 30 seconds is best. Then nothing.

Eventually. It is a good ways into the movie. Fast forward to when Tess walks up to Lucy's roadside memorial. That's when the spookiness finally starts and it is fairly evenly paced from there on.
