The beginning of this movie creates a truly odd, strange, and disturbing yet bearably enjoyable atmosphere. A certain kind of weird that seemingly has a directive behind it. It's hard to watch, but you don't really want to look away or put it on mute. And it feels like that's exactly what they were aiming for

Therefore I felt it was being executed quite well. Part of me wanted to turn the movie off but instead I was compelled to bask in the weirdness of it all lol. I could hardly explain to myself this urge to keep watching

Then it all went down hill with the slasher angle. Basically once they killed the Asian guy. 10 minutes after that it became total crap.

1 maybe 2 others movies provide for me a similar feeling that this film has. I forget their names. But I recall the Feeling....& any movie that invokes any kind of genuine emotional response out of me, scores points in my book

But otherwise, few redeeming qualities here. Not unless you can appreciate the partialy disturbing oddities you're introduced to for the first hour or so
