Unlikable Main Characters

I hated the two main characters. The zombie fx and makeup were the only good thing in this movie. Didn't like the script or the main characters. Just wasn't as funny as it wanted to be.

I thought it was decent for what it was; a low budgeted, zombie rom com. The woman did tend to get on my nerves after a bit but I think that it was done purposefully to give her character more character. There were a few genuinely funny moments in the film and I think it hit its mark targeting the right audience. I thought the heavyset woman was the funniest part of the movie.

Deb was fantastic. I wish I could meet someone like that, gorgeous, intelligent, sense of humour, and selfless.

By the way, the actress who played her is forty years old, which is amazing, since she looks so much younger.

I'm with you, ewgf. The others here are probably communists that work in tire stores decorated with plastic Christmas trees.

I am so glad you posted this. I WANTED to like her (it's the red hair), but she was so obnoxious I just couldn't. I know it's a comedy, a very broad comedy, but so wasn't Shaun of the Dead and I liked everyone - even the obnoxious best friend and girlfriend.

Deb grew on me. I think her weirdness and quirkiness made her seem more well rounded as the movie continued.

I initially thought this too as I was watching... but then I realized something: when Deb woke up she heard him on the phone with his friend trying to find a way to get her out of the house. She knew he was embarrassed of the night before. I feel like the movie has both characters furious at each other silently (Deb because she her him on the phone, he because he's mad at himself and is taking it out on her) so they turn their annoyance levels up to 11 to piss the other person off.

I think this happens all the way until the second act when they reach the father's house. Then we slowly see both of their edges soften and by the end they are still quirky but lovable.
