Have the writers/producers ever been to Texas?

I live in Texas. I have been all over the area between San Antonio and Houston. There are NO mountains! There are some hills and lots of pecan trees, but No mountains! There's also a ton of wide open spaces in areas of Texas closer to the Alamo! Why the heck didn't they try to film in areas that more closely resembled the actual area they are filming about? It's really frustrating! OK, going to try to ignore the mountains and watch the show!

It is driving me crazy as well. Durango, Mexico was more financially appealing, but don't get me started on people giving/taking from "American Made." They missed out on the best East Texas and Central have to offer. This is not a western, this is the telling of Texas. The stars, writers, directors, anyone, would have no "quiet" with me if I met them. I'd be preaching about green areas, swamps, GREEN trees, etc. *sigh*

Exactly! I live just north of Austin and I spend a lot of time driving up and down I-35. I go right through all the areas they are mentioning regularly, so it's hard for me to watch without major conflict in my mind! In an optimist though so I am enjoying the beautiful scenery mother nature has to offer! Lol Just wish it was the beautiful hill country scenery that mother nature gave Central Texas!

It is a shame that an American made movie based on events that occurred primarily in USA, and from a USA point of view wasn't actually filmed in the USA. It would have been nice to see the money spent on this movie going back into the Texas economy. It would have been equally beneficial to have an Alamo and central Texas historian/expert advising! Maybe then they'd have gotten the landscape correct! Lol

Sorry, but the mountains, as beautiful as they are, are really making it hard to watch this film and believe they are actually where they say they are!

I concur 100% --- Hey the Devil's Backbone, Dripping Springs, Burnett, so many gorgeous places. Imagine if they'd filmed a scene at Hamilton Pool. San Antone, San Jacinto... gorgeous back then and they could have found it today. It would have even more definitively proven the passion the fighters had for their Texas, for our Texas.

I am not sure how finances work, but my goodness. And from what you say, you live off the most amazing place. I also lived in Austin, although off South Manchaca, but went up and around so many spectacular places. Texas is like no other place on earth.

You are right, those areas of West Texas are stunning. Just.... stunning. I love the saying "The sun is 'ris, the sun is set, and we ain't out of Texas yet" ---- meaning it is a vast country with so many diverse landscapes. This movie perpetuates the "desert" stereotype.

Was the flag of Chile on your post supposed to be the Texas flag, or did I miss the meaning?

reply

I looked again with my glasses. You are right. Go Chili?
