Seems a bit dated!

Don't get me wrong there are some good gags in the show but this sort of comedy just seems a bit dated to me now (showing my age!!). I can see how it might appeal to a younger generation who aren't familiar with Police Squad the Naked Guns and Airplanes but back then it seemed so fresh and alternative plus Leslie Nielsen was brilliant. I just don't think that I can see myself watching a whole season or more because after just three episodes I am finding it to get a bit tiresome rather quick. By the way, one of my favourites back then was Top Secret. Anyone remember that?

I remember all of the shows you mentioned and love this show. I think it is a matter of your sense of humor.

Yes, I know a little German. He's standing over there.

That "greatest line" came from Grouch, if not even earlier. I also saw it on Benny Hill and MPFC.

In other words, not new or even more than a little creative. And the writer would likely agree.

The similar comedy to Naked Gun or Airplane where nearly every line and action is a joke either by parody or a clever pun is exactly why I like this show so much. A direct spoof of something old like "NYPD Blue" would be dated, but I don't see how the idea of spoofing police dramas in general can make something feel dated.

I like how it sort of updates the spoof of police procedurals by also poking fun at the woefully inaccurate depictions of forensics capabilities which shows like NCIS and CSI have taken huge liberties with.

I haven't watched this show, but caught a commercial for it today and I laughed... at how completely bizarre and unfunny the commercial was. She sneezes and her eyes pop out? Really? I can't believe that something like this is being produced in this day and age. When I was a kid I saw the Airplane movie and loved it, but this goes beyond being dated material, it's just simply asinine.

Chthonic gods have set their sights on making me a slave to their ways.

This is a throwback to a style of comedy that’s moribund and the problem is that those behind “Angie Tribeca” didn’t originate it, they appropriated it from others. I doubt the actual creators that gave us “Police Squad” and “Sledge Hammer” would repeat the same jokes and approach from three decades ago as humor is meant to evolve and change with the times. This show wasn’t created, but copied. Perhaps the target audience is too young to have seen “Airplane” or “The Naked Gun,” but those also seem like mainstays. This particular series feels tiresome to watch. If you’ve seen one episode, you’ve seen them all. I think Adult Swim was wise to air their parody shows in ten and fifteen minute increments.

I watched the first 2 eps on a plane. You definitely have to be in the mood for that kind of blatant spoof humor, but rashida jones is great, and I enjoyed it. Probably not something i'd binge watch, i'd agree.
