Cannot understand how Steve Carrell would be apart of this. I like comedy, but I at least want writers to try. This is like what middle schoolers would come up with. And no, it's not like Naked Gun. That had some wit to it and jokes were delivered correctly. Like when the guy ordered Vodka rocks and they gave him a Vodka bottle and some rocks.... How is that funny? Or the mechanic who keeps coming out of different sides of the car? There's no humor to that. Maybe this is intended for the teen crowd. Because I've never been more disgusted with a show other than Craig Robinsons attempt at a comedy.
I tried to like the show and I had a few laughs. However Rashida Jones is not funny, she a great actress but watching this show she tries so hard to be funny. Also, I enjoy Alfred Molina as Dr.Edelweiss.
Rashida Jones is at her best when she is playing the "straight man" or in her case the "straight woman." The serious person who is the foil to the zanier character. When she tries to be the goofy one I feel like she is not that funny.

I was watching an interview and Steve Carrel said that he picked her (and always wanted for her to be Tribeca) to be dead pan. She isn't trying to be funny.

I don't know if I'd go as far as calling it "terrible," but it isn't as funny as it thinks it is. For every joke I get a chuckle out of, there seem to be two that are just groan-inducing. Some of the "play on words" jokes are particularly stupid.
That certainly is a magnificent and majestic animal! Can we eat it?
I thought the first episode was terrible, then it gets better but still has much to improve. For me, it feels like a cartoon show done with real actors. There are all this repetetive things I like: the guy who screams in pain in the intro for different reasons, the chief yelling at them in the briefing, the professor pretending to be disabled, the end chase and such. Verbal jokes have to improve, I also think the long ones they do over minutes (like the parcours chase in the first episode) are not very funny. Its a very silly show, I hope it becomes more silly in a clever way insted of a dumb one.
The thing I haven't figured out yet is if this isn't nearly as funny as NG, or if it is and NG was only funny to me because I was nine years old when it came out.
I've rewatched The Naked Gun at least a half dozen times since first seeing it, and there are still moments in it that make me laugh out loud.
It's because the Zucker/Abrahams trio were geniuses at comedy, and Leslie Neilsen was a master at playing it straight to make it funny. And though I like Steve Carell and Rashida Jones, neither of them can measure up to those standards.

Awww I really like it. I think it's hysterically dumb, but the good, silly dumb. I like simple comedy. I'm so tired of all the over the top, shock value comedy where every other word of the script is a curse word and they have to show Will Ferrel(sp?) face plant into a d**k just to be "funny." Nothing against Will, or any other actors who star in 90% this generation's comedic films, I'm just personally bored of it. But that's just me.
I guess differing opinions are what make the world go 'round! :)
Yeah this show is really bad. I see people comparing it too Airplane & Naked Gun; those people should be ashamed. This show is a poor mans Airplane 2.....at best
