Really a missed opportunity with this show

This could have been such a great show! She could have come back with then intention of correcting her romantic life but then focus on her career and changed the world with her insight. I would have loved to see more of Becca/Simon banter and then more of the career transition. Instead, Becca is a love hungry drunk who ruins everything she does. Makes me sad to see weak female characters like this.

As a side note, for whatever reason this show reminds me of Dead Like Me. I have no idea why. Not sure if it is the office setting or what.

We all enjoy the maddness 'cuz we know we're gonna fade away

I have two notes/responses!

First, there's nothing weak about trying to find love, and being unsure, and trying to make the right decision. She's left her fiancé, after a few check-ins to make sure, but then he made sure, so that closed that door for her. She could have taken a number of interesting or comfortable jobs, but she chose one that suited her skills in English Literature, doesn't involve buying/selling as she wanted, and makes great use of her futurely talents for knowing what's going to be big, therefore not only making the most of her previous skills and present desires for a job she actually wants, but also using her future-based abilities to pursue a dream career. And to my knowledge, she is thriving in her career, which while just beginning is off to a tremendous start. There could be more emphasis on this next season, though, and so we reach...

Point 2! Next season is supposed to be a major shift , which will hopefully take care of any awkwardness in writing or behavior changes, while still maintaining the fun and realistic vibes and nostalgia effect. If the producers are reading this, please give me and everyone else due credit! In the credits? Haha!

To be fair, Becca's character had to be primarily focused on issues revolving around people and relationships in order for us viewers to first connect with her. If she had come out of the gate with her focus on her career, the story would have been boring and we wouldn't have been able to connect with Becca on a more personal level. Careers are great, but love and friendship is usually where people find the most satisfaction in life, thus focusing on those things brought us closer to Becca and pulled us deeper into her world. As viewers, we can become more interested in Becca's career choices moving forward, now that we've gotten to know her through her friends, family, and old flames. That's pretty standard in storytelling.
