This show really surprised me

I have avoided watching it because I always just thought it would be dumb and childish.
But the writing is really good and the kids are good actors, they have really natural comic timing - that's not an easy thing.

The writing is okay to good. I'm not sure how natural the kids' comedic timing is. I don't think the kid who plays Ricky is all that good. But I enjoy the show. It's fun, it's light, it doesn't try to teach lessons.

What's wrong with teaching lessons?

Teaching lessons isn't a bad thing unless the show crams them down your throat.

A show that teaches lessons often does so at the expense of any actual entertainment.

That's what I said. The only thing worse than that is when the show tries to be cloyingly positive. What do you think?
