really vs play acting

I would have no problem with this show if it were some type of documentary. But trying to 'prove' something using fictional characters seems to be a waste of time. Even if the cases are based on reality there is no credibility when the background is fake. Kind of like trying to prove to me that bigfoot exists by showing me a cgi animation of a witnesses story.

If their goal was to educate then the best thing to do is a documentary about the actual experiments and research that have been done along with what's been happening in the field of quantum physics. Realistically, it would probably die in the ratings which is why they took the fictional characters approach.

This show reminds me of Ghost Whisperer. They incorporated fiction and non-fiction about mediums. Exaggerated, but they're trying to keep it entertaining so it doesn't get cancelled.

But this isn't a documentary trying to prove anything. Its a fictional show designed to entertain. Don't look for anything more to it because its not there.

Thank you for saying that. I've said the same thing in a couple of other posts, and I've wondered if viewers were putting too much in the show, thinking it was based on true stories.

Yes, some are putting way too much into this show, but its not a case of them thinking these are based on true stories. My impression is they want this to be a docudrama that depicts "serious scientific research into the afterlife." Me, I want to be entertained. If they want "serious scientific research into the afterlife," I'm sure there are plenty of videos on Youtube.

But they are based on true stories, if not one in particular, then thousands of accounts of NDEs, past life regressions and other phenomenon. And given how much these things matter to the millions of people whose lives are touched by them, the concepts deserve to be well dramatized.
