Great Finale (Spoilers)

Loved the ending. No cliffhanger, just a really good basis for a continuation of the series. Of course there is no telling whether or not it WILL continue.

I suspected they would go the route they did about the time Carolyn decided that it was all a hallucination. The daughter was going on a pretty limited description so I suspected it might have been a different woman who delivered the flowers. Nice tactic that they have used throughout the series. Make it seem like there was a logical, rational explanation, then torpedo that explanantion.

I liked it, too. It left the conclusions open-ended, but I though 'Proof' was just a limited series like 'Dig'. I don't think there will be more episodes, but who knows? Maybe the ratings were good enough for TNT to consider it.

I could be a morning person if morning happened at noon.

Not only clever...but an angst free, viewer friendly ending too.

Which is probably why I thought that it was dumb.

There's almost an infinite number of TV series that provide this, so when tackling a complex and controversial subject such as this then I actually WANT to be angst ridden by the end of it.

But maybe you were being sarcastic, Robert. :)

You could see that plot twist coming from outer space, maybe even from Mars.

Maybe there might be a second season.

You have that right.

There is only one point about the finale I did not like. The light flare at the end, indicating proof. The lady with the green scarf encounter was not proof. If you consider she also suffered a near death experience. I would not put much faith in her warnings. As in every case there was always a logical explanation. If you include coincidence. The ending being a good example. The green scarf lady dying at the time Carolyn was doing her experiment does not mean she was there. Proof would have been the green scarf lady have a conversation with Carolyn about the experience, referring to statements only someone there would know. But it is very convenient that Carolyn could not ask her specific questions after the experience.

Not only that but Carolyn still did not answer the afterlife question. Even if we consider she did prove there are something that happens. She still has no idea what happens when she crosses over. Also why could the lady communicate but her son could not. Also if real explain how she could experience NDE while awake. I am referring to her experience while doing the operation.

The other part I had trouble with. Carolyn makes the statement that she knew what she was doing when creating her NDE experiment. No part of the results give an indication of her knowing what she was doing. It seemed she went into the experiment think she would come back get up and be ok. There was no indication she expected any repercussions.

Lets skip the damage to the brain for lack of blood meaning lack of oxygen. But shut down the body the cells start to die. Upon recitation they will regenerate but this will take time. During which you would need medical help. Sh had not plan for the recovery period.

As far as the show giving an explanation for recorded NDE's fine. But the ending totally killed any credibility gained by the prior examples.

She learned her knowledge of reviving from flatlining by watching highly fictionalized medical shows or maybe "24," where Jack Bauer could jump right up and pursue terrorists after being jolted back to life....

reply

No silly, she learned all she needed to know from 'Flatliners'.

I suppose a smaller-caliber gun would have to fire baby teeth.

reply

I agree! Flatliners was definitely her source, as well as mine. ?

reply

I didn't think anyone was old enough to remember flatliners. Keifer and Julia were really young, and had a fling, and broke up after work on the movie ended.

reply

Wow. I didn't know about the fling (I was kind of young), but that was one of my favorite childhood movies. I thought the concept, acting and plot was awesome! I think I still have the VHS tape somewhere like

reply

In any case, from Kiefer Sutherland!

reply

I loved it too! This will be missed next year if they decide against it.
