Mathew Perry

I just saw this show for the very first time and...... it sucks!! Sorry to anyone who likes it but Mathew Perry seems so wooden with his acting. He delivers his lines as if he's in a play, he kinda shouts them. There's just no feeling showed. I loved the original "Odd Couple" with Jack Klugman and Tony Randall. In fact, I own the series. But this version, uugghh!

I just saw it for the first time too, and all I can say is that it's a real shame that Matthew Perry is choosing to have his alcoholic relapse in front of the cameras on a show that could have really brought back his career. He's red-faced, half-beligerent and slurring his words, and it looks like he's been hit by a bus. It's really sad, and really gross.

Couldn't agree more. I tried it last year and hated it. Decided to try it again. Still stinks. Matt Perry is awful! Klugman and Randall can't be beat in those roles. Luckily it's showing a rerun tonight. And, THAT, I'll watch with pleasure!

I've seen most of the show that's aired so far and the most befuddling aspect of it is: How did Mathew Perry forget how to act in a sitcom?? I was willing to let it go the first season, but here we are back for more and nothing has improved.

Couldn't agree more, friend. Not only is Matthew Perry the reason I DON'T watch the new version of The Odd Couple, but for the life of me I can't understand how this guy continues to get work .... ???????

I could not figure out what it was about Mathew's "acting" that is so off putting. It does seem like he thinks he is in a play and waiting for an audience reaction before reciting his next line. Yes, I am aware there is a studio audience, Friends was filmed that way, yet it never felt as phony as this. It's as if he is trying really hard to remember his next line rather than organically having a conversation with the other characters. How did he forget how to act (rhetorical question)? He is clearly having issues, I wish him the best.

I have to agree. I first saw Perry in a small part in "Who's the Boss" and couldn't help but like him. I knew he had a future. "Friends" proved me right. I love when that happens. I loved him in that show. Sadly, it appears he's forgotten how to act. You described it as acting in a play and I can see what you mean. It's awful. I hope he's ok. I'm sad for him.

It's too bad that he's bringing down a well-respected brand/franchise (I can't think of what to call it exactly). I keep replaying certain parts of him speaking and really can't put my finger on what's so damn off about his "performance." One thing I noticed is that he ignores periods in the script at times, the weird way he hits the letter S, and he seems very excitable, although that could be the strangeness around his eyes.

I feel like the show could be a lot better without him since it has a pretty solid cast around him.

The weird way way he hits the letter "s" is called slur. He is belligerent on camera. Someone get him to rehab before he becomes a headline.

I'm guessing Matthew's agents are watching a sh*t storm. And.. They can't do a damn thing.

I'm watching this show for the first tonight AND Matthew Perry appears to be drunk! At first watch, I thought the character was drunk but he's slurring all his lines. He's absolutely terrible! He was my favourite character towards the end of "Friends" and loved him in SNL-type show. This is gawd awful though!
