Gigi/Flash is kinda creepy

Getting kinda creeped out watching this repulsive puppy love between a young girl and her 50-something fathers fifty-something friend. Maybe it's me, but I never find creepy funny. It just makes my skin crawl.

You are not alone. I like this show a lot, but the relationship between Gigi and Flash is grotesque to me. I am not crazy about the may/december thing (their pairing feels like some nasty old man's fantasy), but I especially don't like that he got with her as revenge for Johnny sleeping with Flash's wife years ago. towards Johnny, now the audience is supposed to think this romance is endgame.

Each week they get my hopes up that they will break up, but every week my hopes get dashed. I like the show, so I am going to try to keep watching, but yuck!

Happy now? 

"What kind of tea do you want?"
"There's more than one kind?"

Isn't that kind of the point? Leary's character hates it and even tried to fix her up with a younger guy?

reply

It's the point. Sometimes these relationships work but a lot of the time it's just for the thrill of it (on both sides) and wasn't flash sort of flirting with the idea of cheating on his wife with Gigi's mom before he found out Johnny slept with his wife?

agreed. creepy. ick.

I also thought it was creepy, but thankfully they seem to have ended it. She admitted to giving him oral sex and that's going too far for the excuse that it was too make daddy angry.

Also, I defended the language they used earlier, but then it got worse. I'm not offended by foul language or provocative situations, but there's a point when it's just too much and it becomes offensive (the Gigi/Flash relationship being one example). I think they crossed that line a few times, unfortunately.

Having said that, the show actually improved as the language got worse, which I applaud, but I'm not interested in seeing things just because they're sick. I started to cancel it, but after enjoying the final episodes, I'll continue to next season and hope it improves further. I do wish they'd get rid of the cliche rock outfits and find some that are more creative, though.

There's nothing wrong with it. Age differences in relationships are beneficial to both people because each person brings a different thing to the relationship. The older person brings valuable experience and maturity while the younger one youthful optimism and vigor. This is especially valuable when two people get married and have children. I'm not saying all relationships should be May/December, but it has its upsides.

That isn't to say that relationships like that are never abusive, but relationships of any kind can be abusive. Old/young is no better or worse than any other. If you don't like May/December relationships, then don't have May/December relationships.

I found their relationship rather creepy too, and awkward. Not just because it involves a May/December romance, it's also a relationship between the best friend and a best friend's flesh-and-blood. The fact that Flash was using Gigi at first to get back at Johnny didn’t make matters any better. He slightly has less pigment in his hair than Johnny.

At least they seem to end that relationship for now.
