Such a twisted story

The things the little girl goes through in this movie - it's to the point where it's hard to take if you accept it with any kind of seriousness. I guess a lot of it is meant to be funny and the premise is pretty implausible, but still - seeing the *beep* that goes on around her is disturbing.

The movie has a lot of effective suspense and strange moments - it's not some cookie-cutter thriller. The characters are all insane - only differentiated by degree. And even though it's all very artificial and contrived, it still works, keeping us engaged and entertained throughout.

^Agreed on all points.
Korean thrillers/horrors can be very intense at times.
This was a good example of that.

Too much suspension of disbelief, over-the-top acting and pure silliness. I usually love South Korean thrillers/horror, but this was just ridiculous.

Yes, it's definitely implausible but I agree it was thrilling and entertaining. I thought the acting was uniformly excellent; that little girl especially. The script, even with its implausibilities, was tight. Definitely some humor in it. Interesting how it ended with the phone and the uncle. I would've like to have seen him get it since it was basically all his fault.

That's what I like about these movies...the uncle. The plot did not pander to what we wanted to happen to him.

The movie was really about the lead villain wanting to connect with a family who feared him. Throughout the story he is literally begging his brother to spend time with him but the brother refuses because he is afraid. the lead villain wants to connect with his mother as well, but she only uses him for his money. So he seems to develop this fixation with killing this girl and finishing the job of destroying both families. They had wanted he wanted, which was a relationship with his sibling. You have two sets of sisters who are close, and here he is, dying to be a part of his brother's life. Despite his brother trying to get him killed by the assassin, he tries to spend time with him again, and is quickly rebuffed.

In the car with the little girl, she watches a family on the road, and he offers to kill them. When he realizes the family he wants, loathes and fears him, that's when he goes nuts at the end.

Excellent post! I didn't think about it from that perspective but I agree with everything you wrote.
