I like them

I like them much better than the Browns. Brady seems much more attentive to each wife, and they all seem to really like each other. They're down to earth, and I really like their stance on marriage equality. I know I may be in the minority here, but I enjoy their show and I think they look, overall, happy with each other.

Ah desertdude, we are never going to agree, but that's cool. I will put money on this, if four wives disappeared tomorrow, the one remaining wife would breathe a sigh of relief and feel the albatross lift off here back.

reply

Until it dawns on her that she has 24 children to take care of.

reply

It could be a new business venture; a sweat shop with child labor. Lots of child labor. Bring some American business back.

I am just joking. That sounds aweful. 24 kids, too many to care for, cause god knows Brady isn't going to do the majority of the hands on care.

I am surprised shots fired calls haven't happened from the Siter Wives house; someone is going to kill someone there one day.

I don't see a strong bond. I see a bregrudging partnership. We have two different views of what's going on there, but that's all right.

I agree with you AntwoinD. I only see a tolerance of personalities because they have no choice. They entered into a polygamist relationship and now they have to deal with each other. I also don't understand why there has to be a legal wife. Why doesn't a man just have a "spiritual" ceremony with all of his wives and leave the legal part out of the picture.

reply

That's a really good question- I'd like to know that, too

reply

Could it be for legal protections concerning joint property and income? At least one wife would have legal rights in this arena?

In what way do they have no choice? No one's forcing them to stay in their current situation. It doesn't matter that four of them aren't legally married to Brady; he'd still be obligated to pay chlid support for all of his children, regardless of where they live. And they've already left their religion, so there are no religious obligations keeping them there. I just don't see why anyone would see these women as being stuck.

reply

True they have physically left their religion but it's glaringly obvious their religion has not left them. Every episode the wives emotionally struggle with what they were taught- from drinking wine to birth control to wearing earrings. The wives are isolated from their religion now, so the only security they have at the moment is each other.
Once one of the wives no longer has the obligation of young children to raise, I think there is a stronger possibility of leaving and no longer tolerating their current situation and perhaps exploring a different situation.

In regards to desertdude1953's comment about the "strong bond," I just don't see it. It has been addressed a few times already in this first season that Paulie and Rosemary don't get along that well. In the Tamron Hall interview show, Tamron replayed video where Rosemary stated she felt that for many years Paulie was cutting in on her nights with Brady. Tamron asked if the two had resolved anything since that show, and Rosemary almost seemed a little scared or hesitant to talk about. My guess is that she still hasn't had the guts to confront Paulie with it, truthfully.

Also, Robyn got REALLY upset when Rosemary's anniversary rolled around, and it looked like Rosemary might get an anniversary ring. She cried like a 5-year-old child and didn't feel better until Rosemary insisted that Brady resolve things with Robyn's anniversary first. If I was Rosemary I would have told Robyn, "Tough!" I'm not saying these women wouldn't stick around if Brady passed away, but their bond is NOT as solid as many think. If you watch that Tamron Hall interview, you'll see what I mean.

reply

^I don't see the strong bond either. All the wives seem to be in constant competition with each other. Robyn having a mini breakdown because Brady didn't give her a ring for their anniversary and Paulie constantly bothering Brady when it is Rosemary's turn to be with him are just a few examples of the wives jealousies towards each other.

reply

Yep. They have a lot of natural anger and bitterness towards the other wives. Deep down, I bet they are jealous of the women who have one husband and every night, every anniversary, every holiday with that husband.

Since I like to piss people off according to someone (not you desert dude, we disagree, but no animosity there) trolling round here....I will say it, the only people who see a strong bond are the pro-polygamy posters here. I guess they see bitter hate for the sister wife as natural, therefore polygamy works!

I agree.

The difference(s) between Kody & Brady as fathers are immeasurable! Brady puts Kody to shame...wait...Kody puts himself to shame in that arena! It's one thing I find seriously despicable & why I found 'Five Wives' a tad more tolerable to watch.

reply

I like that Brady seems to have a more intimate relationship with each wife, like any other married couple.

Kody's relationship with his wives seem more like a business partnership.
