Is there going to be a second series?

I loved this series, I thought Reece Shearsmith did a fantastic job and he, Alex Kingston and Noel Clarke had great chemistry. I'd love for there to be another series, does anyone know if that's going to happen?

I was wondering the same thing. The commenters who slammed this series are likely not interested in true 'who done its'.

I thought they left the ending open for a second series - with his friend going missing (sorry for the spoiler to anyone that hasn't seen it yet). It's a big missed opportunity on ITV's part if it isn't taken up again.

Same here. It's a captivating series, with a different 'take' on the classic detective genre. The main character is well developed and interesting, with a good and colourful supporting cast. The type of cases is also kind of 'off beat'.

It would be a shame not no follow up with a second season, especially after ending with a missing person, and such a sympathetic character.

It's time to make an announcement methinks.

At this point, I assume there's been notice of this series' demise, but no one's posted it here. I'm sad, because I certainly would have continued to watch.

So would I, it was fantastic - it had really gripping cases that were complimented by well thought out character developments. I don't actually think there was an official announcement about it, they just let it finish and left the fans hanging, which isn't fair.

I'm HUGELY disappointed! I enjoyed the show enormously and am a huge fan of Alex Kingston. I really believed that it was unusual enough and compelling enough to have earned a second season. Wire in the Blood, Touching Evil and Cracker are all examples of a "different" take on the typical "cop story" and they all had loyal followings. It's sad to see that Chasing Shadows won't be able to join them.

It's really lousy that they aren't going to clear up the cliff hanger. I really enjoyed this series even if it was a little derivative
