Episode 8. Still no zombies. Fedra is still not the worst option

So we see small group of people who starve and have to eat people. Then remember Fedra who had thousands of people under its protection and no one was starving....

And not one zombie in sight again. Which means its relatively safe for people to start rebuilding civilization. Starting with restoring electricity and making fuel. After that everything can go back in normal pretty quick. They have to take tractors and work in the field and sow food.

Yet no one does nothing it seems. Its the first zombie show set during apocalypse that has no zombies as threat. And you wonder why no one is rebuilding old life. All those people just literally sit and do nothing. In real life people would already start rebuilding things.

Well after all these episodes, I would have to agree with you. When it comes to showing the existing threat from the infected, this show really dropped the ball. It seems to me that most of the problem is that there is too much crammed into the season. The show needed at least a few more episodes if they were planning on cramming the whole first game into a single season. Episode 3 didn't bother me at all at the time, but now as we near the end of the season, that episode seems like it wasted show time that could have been better utilized for more essential aspects of the overall story.

Ep 3 will be the episode synonymous with the season

3 & 7

Things are going so slow in each episode that they always feel very short. You watch it and you start notice that its middle of the episode and nothing happened. Then "bam" and its already over. And they have only 1 episode left in the season and it feels like we are in the middle of a season, not the end.

And then they will probable spend 2 years shooting next season and god knows when it will come out.

I think they have to take their time in getting Ellie to the place she needs to go in order for them to make a vaccine from her blood.
If she had gotten there already then the show would be over and I don't think they want to end it just yet.
Of course they could change the dynamic where they start curing and kill off the remaining zombies and start rebuilding civilization but I guess that would not be as exciting as them having the adventures they do.

The problem is that you need to have skilled workers or to have them train others for the jobs.

For example, with the oil and gas.
Gas is probably expired or if/when it runs out then they would have to somehow make some more starting with the drilling and who has the equipment and know how if all the oil workers are dead?
And oil refineries are few and far between.

Same thing with farmers. Are any of them still alive?
I suppose they could use horses to plow with for farming but you need those old fashioned plows and how do you make or find one? That is, if you even have a horse.
Everyone would have to do gardening or farming on a very small scale and not big fields where tractors and plows are not needed.
And gardening is not as easy as it looks.

For electricity you need coal to run the power plant and if all the power plant workers are dead then you have to know what to do to get it going again.
And when, not if, when you run out of coal, then what?

You are also going to need mechanics to fix things when they break down.

So you need the skilled workers in jobs and the proper equipment to rebuild a civilization and if you don't have both in the same place then forget it.

With all the above in mind it makes sense where they don't have enough workers who can do the jobs with the gear they need as to why civilization is so barren and not being rebuilt on a massive scale.

People can learn things. The main thing is electricity. Once it restored - everything can start working.

We saw how Fedra in their city has actually electricity working. And that town Tommy was living in. and had Gas and cars working.

Then you gather people and ask what were hey doing before apocalypse. Everything as been invented.

I dont think they portray realistically apocalypse shows. Its one thing when its 2 years into apocalypse and zombies run fast. But if they are slow like Walking Dead or barely exist like in Last Of Us and its been 10-20 years - civilization would be resorting itself. Thats how humans are. Fedra controlled city is actually more realistic. Like they actually has a working society where people are assigned to jobs and electricity is restored.

It is a fictional show where of course electricity is running just like it does in really old abandoned buildings you see in other movies.

I dunno how they would get it running IRL where you need coal to run it.
If it is near a dam, then it can run longer with water power.

You need to find enough people who have those skills and the right gear to get things running and location matters.
I live in a large town where we don't have any oil drills or refineries.
The gas is trucked in to the stations.
So me and any survivors that stayed here would be out of gas eventually so we would be out of luck with that.

I would agree that civilization would be restoring itself but not in the ways you think.
I think it would be very primitive.
People are resourceful but they wouldn't be using gas and electric powered things.

You forgot zombie Joel, who could fight four guys while unencumbered by a gut wound
