I mean kinda obvious what they're doing aint it? Characters who was white in the game just now being black, betting they'd never consider making Henry and Sam white eh? Its just annoying how white characters are willy nilly swapped with another race while every other race is always left as is and not dare touched in adaptations.

Before anyone says it, i'm not racist, i wouldn't want them making Henry and Sam white, can we at least try and be authentic to the game a little? Joel being Mexican i can let slide cause he can still pass for game Joel somewhat, its not too far off.

Remember when J.K. Rowling magically made one character gay and then retconned another character to be black? That's lacking artistic integrity. It's not impossible for artists to sully their own work, as evident with The Last of Us.

That argument could be made for anything really? Like I always say, you could make Black Panther White and have him adopted by the Wakandans, and now his race isn't that important, right?

Also, Michael Bay makes plenty of massive hits but some of those movies are terrible.

At the end of day, if the characters were originally written to be black and Hispanic you would have a point, and no one would bat an eye. But purposely race-swapping the characters completely destroys the artistic integrity of the property.

Admiral Souther in the Expanse was race-swapped to black in the TV show. It was completely irrelevant because it had nothing relevant to do with his character.

A race swap only matters if the character's race is essential. For example if you are portraying Abraham Lincoln he obviously needs to be portrayed by someone white. If you are portraying Malcolm X obviously he needs to be black. Nothing about Catwoman's race is essential to her character. Same goes for Joel or many of the characters in the Last of Us. Before you strike I will launch a preemptive strike. Go ahead change Black panther to white or Blade to white I do not care. I care if the film they make is good period end of subject. A swap I could not care less about so long as the race is not essential.

Also that motto does not seem to suit your narrative since most actors/actresses in Hollywood are white. So um how does that motto apply to Hollywood when whites make up the majority? That is like me saying if it ain't white it ain't right about the NBA when blacks make up the majority. Try again bud.

A race swap always matters, whether it's essential to the character or not. If a character was written that way from the start, and/or has been that way for the majority of his or her existence, then changing the the race changes the character. It'd be the same thing if the character's gender was swapped, or was made significantly younger or older, or had the name changed.

The number of white actors/actresses is irrelevant to this discussion, if demographics actually mattered to Hollywood, we wouldn't be having talking about this right now. We've had a surge of black-washed characters in the last 5-10 years, whether the character's race was essential to them or not, whether the character existed or not. That motto summarizes modern Hollywood perfectly. Meanwhile your disingenuous attempts to mis-portray cyguration's arguments against race-washing are easily debunkable. Try again, bud.

It's dumb to assume there is only one way to interpret a character, it's not true there are many ways. Eartha Kitt portrayed Catwoman way back in the 60s, in the Year one comic of batman Catwoman was not white.

Absolutely it's relevant to the discussion. Even in current day whites are the majority in Hollywood. So the if it's black take it back has no relevance. Also if race swapping bothers him so bad where is his outrage about Tiger Lily being white washed in the movie Pan? Funny why is he quiet about that? I thought all swaps bothered him? Nope I'm not close minded, I'm just speaking common sense. Eartha Kitt played a different Catwoman just like Halle Berry did. In Year One Catwoman she was definitely white, I'm not sure why people keep pretending she's not. I own the comic and, while it's been a while, I've read it several times, and subsequent comics in the same continuity also portrayed her as white, just with longer hair.

The number of white actors is completely irrelevant. Black-washing has been on the rise whether the character's race is “essential” or not, that's an easily verifiable fact, and many of the same people who complained about white-washing are now giving black-washing a pass because they're racist hypocrites. Kevin Feige recently apologized for white-washing The Ancient One in Doctor Strange, but didn't apologize for black-washing Baron Mordo in the same movie, or black-washing other white characters in the MCU. Try again, bud.

Pan was a flop, most people didn't even see it. The few that did see it complained about white Tiger Lily, look it up. If cyguration saw it, then just ask him about it. He already said he didn't want black characters from Last of Us to be white-washed, which you keep ignoring, so odds are he'd feel the same way about Tiger Lily. But you'd probably ignore that too, because you're disingenuous that way.

I own the Year One comic as well. She is most definitely not white in that comic book. If you think that I suggest you get your eyes checked. It is why Zoe Kravitz appears almost as a striking image of the Selina Kyle in that comic book. Just because she was white or traditionally white does it mean it can not be interpreted another way. Seems as to not have affected the Batman at all. The film was a financial success as well a critical success and liked by the mass majority. You are not the sole authority on what people consider to be canon or seen as a Batman story. Get over yourself.

"The Batman" made pretty good money, but $700 million in today's superhero-saturated market is rather underwhelming for an A-tier superhero. While you're celebrating that small victory, in reality it's embarrassing when a low-budget Joker movie and C-tier heroes like Aqua Man and Doctor Strange made more money. I don't pay for movies that I don't support, and I'm doing just fine.

I already addressed your invalid argument about white actors. Hollywood is clearly going against demographics just to win internet points. You've hit a dead-end with that and are only going in circles. Either come up with something new or concede, you're only embarrassing yourself by repeating nonsense.

Yet you are pretending that a character can only ever be portrayed one way. This is a requirement by you, no artist is limited to that. The Long Halloween and Dark Victory were not made by Frank Miller now were they? That explains the change since it is handled by a different creator. Guess what stuff like Aquaman and Doctor Strange did not get the acclaim The Batman did. I will take a better acclaimed film over a more profitable one. The new planet of the apes trilogy made nowhere near the money something like Rise of Skywalker did yet they were better acclaimed films. Dune made nowhere near the money Star Wars Rise of Skywalker did yet it was the better received film. In the end it was a victory choke on it.

I think it was the best Batman since The Dark Knight. Actually thing is I love Burton's Batman, Nolan's Batman and now Matt Reeve's Batman. All of them did cool unique things with the character. I love different portrayals even if I have my preference overall. I will spend money on quality entertainment while you and others cry in the corner and miss out on great films. It did very well critically and it did well by mass majority of audiences. Actually as it stands right now the Batman is rated higher than any Burton Batman film by critics and massive audiences. if the characters are not true to the cannon in the game, then it's not how the creator made it. it's not just iconic characters that should stay how the artist envisioned them. so, if my character makes a ton of money, then i keep to keep my race and how I envisioned it? no! my character should stay as how I envisioned it no matter what b/c I created it. like i said, if other races want to make their own type of characters, let them do it within their creative sessions.

Bill’s queerness, then, is far more subtextual in the game than in the show, but is nonetheless still present in the game and remains an important part of his character. The biggest hints towards Bill being a gay man are his relationship to Frank and a certain magazine that Ellie steals from his stash in the church basement, both of which can be missed by players not engaging in optional content or not paying close enough attention.

If you present a story or script and want it to go main stream, you will be forced to allow your characters to be altered.

If you created a story and imagined a character as black, but someone told you it's not being granted and you will not receive huge sums if we are not allowed to make the character white.

Having not played the game yet the actress who played his daughter did such a brilliant emotional job in first episofe. The father/daughter relationship felt so real.

As for Tommy's wife why didn't they make her Asian as it did feel coincidental that Joel's off screen wife then was Black the same as Tommy's. At least make her Native American or something.
