Its based on an Israeli series called The Gordin Cell, which aired a year BEFORE The Americans. There's also a Russian version and Korean version to this tv show. So it must be quite good to have 4 different versions out there.

If anyone knows where I could watch any of these other versions with English subtitles, let me know! I found season 1 of the Israeli version to stream online, but it had some other subtitles behind the English ones (Hebrew, maybe?), and it would be way too distracting to watch.

DUMB. AND YES. It's a rip off based on the fact it's russians v Americans again. Why not a n Korean sleeper cell? Or a middle eastern? So lame.

Duh.. Because Russians can pretend to be Americans but Koreans can't. The look will give away.

I hope you're either being sarcastic or live in an isolated box somewhere in the middle of an Alaskan Wilderness and don't know that all Americans aren't White.

Yep rip off. The Americans has been developed by a former CIA officer. Much more credibility.

lol...a guy who in no way was a CIA officer during the time depicted in The Americans. He adds zero credibility.

It's not a ripoff but sucks for sure. A child genius who knows everything? Yawn! Why can't they make a spy stories that involves normal people with normal problems? This series is definitely made for stupid people!

The Americans on the other hand is amazing. There is good story, there is flow. Not everything is presented in one episode, and everything is tangled beautifully.

Hey johnnymike91. Where did you find The Gordin Cell with english subtitles? I would really love to see it. I've only been able to find the pilot episode.
