what is this, the 80s?

does russia even care what the US does now? id think they were too busy taking over the crimea and laughing at obama. having russian operatives operate in the US to execute a terror attack on a greater scale than 9/11? waste of time

Perhaps at worst to steal information/technology. Plot to destroy the USA is too unbelievable as Russia has enough problems on its own.

reply

Yeah, someone needs to tell the writers that the cold war is over and the world has moved on.

reply

The Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union IS over, but Russia is trying to gain control of areas that used to be part of the USSR. We could be the main stumbling block, since the Germans and French only talk.

reply

They want to copy Americans but also want to use high tech devices for lazy writing, thus the setting.

reply

Yup.

You are aware of the US sanctions against Russia over human rights, right? You are aware the Putin HATES America and that as the former head of the KGB he'd like nothing better than to bring down the US, right? That his ego is as big and cold as Siberia? So, the premise makes sense... but the show does not. It's ridiculously poorly written. The Russians are all automatons. The only likable characters are the innocent FBI boy and the black chick. This will be gone is 2 weeks.

Frankly if NATO was not pushing into Russia's backdoor we would not have all these issues in the world. Russia is just trying to protect itself. Basically the US and its NATO allies have surrounded them from all sides. The US did much worse in the 60s for a few missiles that were going to be set up in Cuba. World War III was about to happen then. Instead of giving the Russians some breathing space and working together against islamic terrorism which is the real threat in today's world the US has been pushing further towards Russia's borders. And now obviously since America views Russians as 'evil' again we will be seeing a lot of TV series and movies like this one...

reply

Exactly right. Hollywood is stuck on the Cold War.

reply

Supporting a nation's right to maintain its independence from being dominated and invaded by Russia = US pushing towards Russia borders. Not a biased view at all.

reply

Frankly I was referring to how NATO absorbed most of the Eastern Bloc all the way to Russia's border like the Baltic States. It's a provocation.

You are being biased. Think about it, would the US even allow Canada or Mexico joining the ex Warsaw Pact for example? Obviously not. No one wants trouble on their very own borders.

reply

Did NATO strong arm those countries into joining or did those countries beg to join out of fear of Russia doing what it's doing to Ukraine right now and what it did to Georgia before that?

reply

During the Cold War Cuba wanted to have Russian missiles on its soil pointed at the US. Was it the right thing to do? Did Russia come to its senses and stop? And mind you the US had missiles in Europe pointed on Russia.

After the Cold War there was a kind of gentlemen's agreement that the US and NATO would not move toward Russia's borders as Russia was not a threat anymore. What did NATO do? And note this was a gradual process that lasted over a decade, always edging closer until NATO now touches Russia's borders. It's bad for everyone...
