after watching the chair

I lost all respect for Zachary quinto he knew what he was getting into with shane cause All he had to do was YouTube shane and know but instead he was unprofessional and Should be shunned

I disagree completely. In fact, I have a new found respect for him for speaking his mind and saying exactly what I'm sure some of the others didn't have the balls to say.

I think Zachary was hoping that Shane would actually make a good film. Regardless of Shane's youtube content, I'm sure Zach thought that Shane would take the contest more seriously and try and produce good content, instead of an hour and a half youtube video made specifically for his current fan base. Boy was he wrong on that, but I'm glad he stood up and said exactly what he thought, instead of being yet another yes man to Shane. Shane really fked up. He squandered an amazing opportunity to not only make a real film, but to expand his fanbase and earn some industry cred and respect. He has shown with this competition that he is not interested in doing that, so I hope he decides to stay on youtube until he grows up. Zach was on point.

Actually, reading about the controversy he created was the only reason I ever heard of this movie. I'm not sure Quinto's outrage had any negative effect at all. The point of being offensive is to separate your art from the billion other things out there. People like Howard Stern or Madonna have mastered that kind of marketing. I'm not saying Quinto was faking it, but the TV show could have edited his comments out if they felt like it was going to hurt them, so obviously they didn't mind stirring things up a bit.

reply

Yeah... Because Quinto was the unprofessional in this situation. If anything, Quinto is the only one who showed any integrity. He saw the end result as the insulting vanity project that it was, and made sure the world knew that he did not agree with the end result.

Absolutely damned right. Had I been in Zach Quinto's position, I'd have had my name taken off this thing as well. Shane Dawson's narcissistic tantrums, juvenile writing, and complete inability to direct a feature film make this a waste of time.

If I were Zachary Quinto, I would've removed my producer credit as well. I'm a Shane Dawson fan, but only in the context of Youtube. I know his humor is cliche and camp, but he had an opportunity to make something that could have at least had a cult following, but this movie was just awful.
