Their futures...Spoilers.

I sort of liken Shane to Paul W. S. Anderson, making popcorn movies that a lot of people will see, but that really don't have much meaning. Anna is sort of like Paul Thomas Anderson, making films that may not be as popular to the masses, but mean more and say something meaningful.

I can understand why Shane won, with so many of his friends and fans seeing his film. Sure, in the end, the popularity speaks. What spoke to me was the films themselves, and what more serious reviewers thought of the two films. There was a clear winner to me, when it came to the quality of the films, but again, the masses speak.

Back to the original subject, I think Anna will have longevity and respect, while Shane will make some bucks and eventually fade. Just my opinion.

I also see Anna transitioning into more serious films, which is where I don't think Shane ever will, nor could, prosper.

Hiya, Gabe! Seen any good shows like Time of Death lately? :) I've been looking for more shows like that.

On the subject matter, I agree with you on both accounts. Even if Anna never becomes a household name, I hope she prospers and does well in the industry. Shane, while I do see potential, has a long way to go. If he wants to be successful he's going to have to eventually realize that he won't be able to do potty humor forever. It gets old so fast, especially once you grow out of the stage where it's even funny anymore. I'm no prude, but I found certain scenes in his movie to be utterly gross (the balls on the window scene? Really?)(I also cringed at the thought of 13 year old girls at his premiere watching that), and was rolling my eyes more than I was laughing.

I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves.

I agree. I also think Shane needs to learn how to take criticism and work with it, instead of shunning it. He has a lot of growing to do as a filmmaker, and I feel like if he truly doesn't care what anyone thinks of his film then he needs to stay on youtube because that type of attitude and thinking will not get him anywhere in the movie business. If he ONLY wants to make films that he and his fans like, he doesn't belong anywhere other than youtube.

I think though, that he does care what people think. I think Shane is an incredibly self conscious person which is why he wouldn't go into the room to hear people's thoughts on his movie. He is so used to his fans on youtube loving everything he does, he couldn't handle outside criticism. Which is why his "test audience" was made up of friends and not impartial strangers. This tells me he is not ready to make another movie or be in Hollywood. For now he needs to stay on youtube, well inside of his comfort zone where everyone tells him his sht don't stink, everything he makes is gold, etc....

I wish him luck though. I hope he grows up and finds within himself what it takes to really be a filmmaker in Hollywood.

Gabe, you're being too kind to Shane. He'd be elated to become half as successful of a filmmaker as Paul W. S. Anderson.

Unfortunately for Shane, he started to fade the second The Chair ended on Saturday.

He will never work for a major studio and he will never have his film released in even a limited capacity.

The thing we have to remember is that Shane's style of humor is rated R. His audience is comprised of mostly teenage girls. This means that most of his audience can't even get into his movies. This makes him a huge risk for any studio.

Shane will probably make another movie or two using what ever funds he makes from Not Cool, but it will never be anything that comes anywhere close to a true feature film.

Like Justin Bieber and the Jonas Brothers, teen girls eventually outgrow fads like Shane.

Hey there. Long time no see. I was hoping they would be doing a second season of "Time Of Death", and I've been looking every now and again, but I haven't seen anything to indicate that they are going to do so. Then again, perhaps what was needed to be said about the human condition was said in the original season, and a second season would be just pandering to people who don't understand the full concept of what the show was about.

As for The Chair, I found Shane's film to be pretty disgusting, as well. Sure, there is an audience for this, but people grow up very quickly, and the kids who will replace the present audience may find the film dated.

As someone else in this thread said, perhaps I am being a bit kind comparing Shane to Paul W S Anderson and his success. I was just thinking of the difference between the two Paul Andersons. One says something with his films, while the other makes films many youngsters want to see. I can't see many 15 year olds wanting to sit through "There Will Be Blood", nor understanding what is really going on, even though the film was what I consider a modern day classic and a cinematic achievement.

Perhaps Shane will go that long way, as he has to grow up, too. Maybe not. I guess the future will tell, but in ten years, I don't think any of us will even remember his name, much less his film. I think his Youtube stuff will eventually lose viewers, as well. I haven't seen any of it, nor do I really want to, but it's common sense that everything starts to get boring after a while. You can only see so many depictions of the same thing before you get sick of it. Heck, even ER and NYPD Blue got somewhat boring after a while.

Nice seeing your views again. I wonder how Little and her two younger siblings are doing.

Little moved to Southern Cali a few months ago by herself. The kids were acting up again and she couldn't handle it. As far as how the two siblings are doing, I'm not sure. Well, I hope. Sucks things couldn't work out, but based on the show it's easy to see why.

Perhaps they are living with that wonderful excuse of a father. I can't remember how old they were, but one of them was nearing 18, wasn't he/she? If so, maybe that one was able to get their act together and get a job. Perhaps rent a room or share an apartment.

I think it will get better in the future. Once they grow up a bit things may change between them and Little. I hope it does, anyway.

The toughest part to making it would be getting their foot in the door, which they've already accomplished.
In a just world, neither of them should make it because I don't think either of them have any real creativity or talent. Shane Dawson at best may crap out a few low grade raunchy comedies, thanks to his youtube popularity. Anna just strikes me as a decent looking chick that everyone will tell to her face that she is a special talent, but in reality is just boring as hell (like her movie).
Hey, who knows what will happen. If Fred Durst and the Seltzerbergs are able to make movies, I suppose these two have a chance also.

Shane's assistant Lauren seemed like she was on the ball. If I was making a movie, I'd take her.

- or so the Germans would have us believe...

Neither one of them has any talent.
