Brought back memories of my sister in law

I just watched this tonight, and could hardly stop crying.

My brother's first wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in her mid thirties. She had a mastectomy and came through the therapy and everything, only to find after another couple of years, that she had secondaries in her brain and liver.

I was busy looking after my teenage daughter in hospital, on and off for months, during her later illness, and always felt guilty that I wasn't able to spend enough time with her or my brother. I was distraught when she died, and at the funeral in particular.

This programme brought it all back to me, the sorrow I've continued to feel since we lost Lavinia, and the guilt again. Also, however, it showed me exactly what she and my brother went through together, and I'm so very sad for both of them, and for their daughter who was only 16 at the time.

I agree with the post that says it was important to show the proper, full as possible effects of this terrible disease on the person affected and on those around them who help and support them through the illness.
