I liked it. Period. Full stop!

How come people never acknowledge how hard it is to produce a movie? Especially a horror movie.
But, boy! They sure do like to give out one stars!

Anyway, I liked the movie, in spite of my disbelief suspenders snapping me in the butt once or twice. I'm big enough to take those without whining and pouting. I salute Mr. Shyamalan as a favorite and I am thankful for his retaining artistic control. It bespeaks his efforts when he plunks down five million of his own dollars and those of his friends and gets nearly a hundred mill in return by year's end.

I await more from this guy.
Aaannddd...I gave this film eight stars!
So, there!!

Agreed - I liked it, too.
Mr Shyamalan made a good horror film here.

I think people don't mention how hard it is to produce a film because they're just the audience and want to be entertained. I loved the movie, but i don't feel it's necessary to mention the difficulty of producing/filmmaking. Everybody has their own opinion. Mine is that this was my favorite of Shyamalan's. I loved Sixth Sense, but honestly, i felt myself rooting for the kids.

I liked it too.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and mine is that this film is truly awful.

A more accurate question and one I would like to throw out is: how difficult is it to produce a GOOD movie? Apparently very difficult since there are so many more awful movies released than good ones.

I laugh in the face of danger, then I hide until it goes away.

8/10 I think this might be one of the best horror movies made in the last 4 years

You seem to have watched only one movie in the last 4 years.

Why do we fall?

Jimbmorris,

What I liked is also what's most ignored - that it does Not rely on The Supernatural - his previous films rely on it and so many cheap, but a lot of very fun movies like "Furious 7" - taking Cliche', the impossible and the supernatural - is an example of the extreme - 'implausible & supernatural', or it is all otherwise impossible. For this movie to work so well; for it to Cost Under $6 Million and Earned over $90,000,000!?! You just have to say, good work about the money, but many of us can also see how much more difficult it is for M. Knight - he no longer has use of that powerful tool (it could explain everything - but Reality? That's hard - and those grandparents were just that. Nothing supernatural, but much to be concerned about.

The Visit is the first M. Knight film, and one of only a few in general that does not use the Supernatural as an easy corner to cut (and it shows). Often it's mild or tries to be subtle..

I quite liked the film. This was a rural gothic picture - two kids stranded in the middle of nowhere (no cell phone coverage) with a couple of loonies. And it show you how vulnerable kids are. They have no resources - they can't drive, they don't have friends or cash or credit cards. Great way to make a horror movie. No supernatural junk at all. You really felt that the kids couldn't escape the situation. I'm sure some people hate the kids, but I loved them, and the writing for them was spot on. Writing for kids is hard, and this really worked. I'm looking forward to his next film.

Shyamalan is plagued by bad marketing. This is not a comedy, it just happens to have lead characters who are charming and funny and can carry a film. It is a light horror film, but ends up being full of sadness and emotion and the kids try to deal with their dad leaving them. There were a few jump scares, but at the end of the day it was a well written and directed horror/drama. The real horror is having your dad leave you and never getting to say goodbye.

I had no idea that it was Shyamalan.
I came across it one night.
It freaked me out.

When it was over and I saw that it was Shyamalan,
I realized that if I had known it was him, I would not have liked it as much.
And that sucks.
Because of expectations.....

This movie worked for me.
