I don't understand the hate for this movie.

M. Night's movies are crap but I liked this one. I think the children were good.

Sites like this tend to attract the people who weren't thrilled with movies or outright haters moreso than the fans.

I actually had a lot of fun with this. It's got a good balance of horror and comedy. Smartly utilyzes the found-footage style to tell its story and deliver some good shocks. And it even has a few genuinely nice moments of character development.

It, along with Wayward Pines to me represents a small return-to-form for M. Night. I always was and still am a huge fan of The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs (as are honestly most people I've ever met), so I've never 100% been able to give up on him, even when most of his later films have... sucked. So it's nice seeing a good series and another entertaining film from him. This film feels like a movie from the same mind that brought us those earlier films... and I adored it for that reason.

Here's to hoping he has a few more fun films like this up his sleeve.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

Same thing here buddy

Even if he did After Earth

His first movies are masterpieces

I could never give up on Night. He gave us so much at the start of his career that he can make as many bad movies as he wants and I'll still owe him for Unbreakable

The Visit was awesome and Wayward Pines was very entertaining with a few actually really good moments

I thought the kids were great! And (OP) check out Night's movies listed above, if you haven't - I'd add Devil, an earlier one, to the list. (OK, I wasn't crazy about Signs, but it was good.)

Really liked this, and did NOT see the twist coming; I very rarely do . . .

He had some good movies but I wouldn't call them masterpieces. Here are the movies I enjoyed:

6th sense
unbreakable
signs
the village was okay

the rest of his movies sucked. His latest movie made the poop pile much bigger.

You don't understand the idea of someone having a different opinion than you? Dang....

It's got M. Night Shyamalan's name on it, so the nitpickers come out. Because this one isn't a complete embarrassment like The Happening/The Last Airbender/After Earth people are having to work really hard to convince others that it's an awful movie. They do the same thing with Signs and The Village. It doesn't work there and it doesn't work here, so they have to be be extra aggressive with their criticisms.

I thought it was scary as Katy Perry!

Seriously one of the scariest movies I've seen in a long time thanks to the woman playing the old lady. When she chases them under the house, and outs Becca in the oven and gapes at the camera in the den and goes upstairs with a knife...

All just scary as f&@"$!

reply

1. It wasn't scary
2. It sucked

I don't understand the hate for his movies either. I've always enjoyed all his movies I've seen. I think he's very good at the non-bloody, non-gory CREEP factor. OK, maybe they're not scary enough for people of today, but these kinds of movies are the ones I enjoy most. They are psychologically creepy. Almost on par with The Shining, but without blood and gore. Blood and gore are things I can do without, thank you. Though, yes, The Shining is a great movie in spite of that.
