Saw this at a film festival

And thought it was beautiful as well as truthful. I am not sure how non-Natives, or folks who are not familiar with Indigenous peoples, will view it. I can see how it may be kind of intense and hard to watch, but it is worth it. There are so many wonderful things happening in our communities, it is good to see a honest examination of a piece of life.

Although I'm Native American, I did not grow up on a reservation, my tribe does not have one (Oklahoma). But I still identified with many of the scenes, people and general tone of the film. And, as I discussed the film with many other Indians after we saw it, we all seemed to have the same kinds of reactions. The audience we viewed it was about half Native.

I felt lucky that I got to see it.

That's funny, because I am not Native American and I loved it, but I was wondering how the film went over in and around the Pine Ridge Res. (see my post in this board asking this).

Thanks for this post!
