Child's Play 3 wasn't on the Section 3 list?

Obviously Child's Play 3 was one of the major players in the UK's censorship craze, but it's not addressed in the trailer reel on disc 2. Was Child's Play 3 actually not seized?

No. The scandal about Child's Play 3 was in 1993/1994, whipped up by the media firestorm surrounding the infamous Jamie Bulger case.

The titles which made the original D.P.P lists were placed on the list a decade earlier. Those are the titles covered individually on the two DVD box sets - the original seventy-two Video Nasties from the D.P.P's Section One and Two lists (and some other titles from the Section Three list which were randomly targeted by the police for seizure) from the early 1980s, leading to the Video Recordings Act of 1984.

Child's Play 3 was never seized. It had been a decade since the establishment of the Video Recordings Act. The film had been granted its legal 18 video certificate in the early 1990's, and the BBFC stuck to their guns and refused to rescind that certificate.

Some retailers caved in to media pressure and 'voluntarily' withdrew it, but there was never any legal requirement for them to do so. The title was never actually banned in the UK.

Okay, that makes sense. I suppose I didn't notice the lack of late 80's and early 90's films on any of the three lists. Thanks for the response!
