crap film with a crap ending

The characters were divided into 2 categories: Totally unlikable and stupid, and plain stupid.
Watch as they react in annoying, idiotic and unrealistic ways to advance the (non) plot, towards and ending which mans.... what exactly? The orange suits were the good guys and you should have just stayed put?

Kind of. It was basically Lord of the Flies.

****MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD**** Well yes, there was a lot of stupid, selfish behaviour going on, but the main guy Mark was pretty decent overall, he seemed smarties have with his moral compass intact. The older thug brother, annoying for sure, the female haz mat may have been deceitful at times but she was treated unfairly by the gang and you could see how hard she tried to save the lady with the glass in her neck. That lady being the nicest and fairest of the bunch. The old lady was both funny and cantankerous but not nasty. So to be fair, there were some humane characteristics shown. The conspiracy theorist guy was shown in a very selfish light, which may question the film makers motive of depiction of free thinkers.

The mob rage mentality is sadly quite likely in such an environment of fear and helplessness. No one can be sure they would always remain moral in a decision between their own fate and that of a strangers. The guy at the end who stabbed the good guy cos he assumed he was ' the enemy' is probably a very likely scenario. DeepMistrust, fear and a lack of communication will sadly lead to great tragedy.

Not too bad a little thriller overall, but the end was not explained as to why only seemingly mute children were saved or possibly immune to the virus.

Pretty sure the end explained a moment at the beginning of the movie when the main character and the other mates where talking about how the government can't contain this news from the public forever. It would eventually be known world wide once people got healed and taken care of. It seems the government actually can and by only saving mute children who, presumably also can't type or write yet, leaves them stuck in the custody of the government indefinitely. Towards the end the main character tells the boy to call the number on the phone and tell his g.f/wife where he is and she'll pick him up and take care of him. The boy at the very end just looks at the phone as if to say "wtf, I can't talk to her or write to her. All I have is a picture."

I'm still not sure why the government didn't just let everyone know what was going on so they didn't panic. I'm also not sure why they were pumping gas into the apartments to kill everyone. Was that a last ditch effort to contain the apartment building? Kill everyone and move on?

Well, except that the news still couldn't be contained. All those people died. They had friends and relatives who would insist on knowing what happened to them. Others would notice that those huge tower blocks, filled with people only a day before, were empty and dark. And an expanding "containment area" in a big city can't be hidden from the public. They had to be told something, even if it was only a half-truth, to explain the ongoing quarantine efforts and the death/disappearance of so many people.

Also, Nico was unconscious right up until the aid worker told him he would be OK. How would they know he was mute and why would they think a boy that age wouldn't be able to write?

Finally, I don't think the gas was a lethal gas. All of them, except Nico with his 1940s-era gas mask, were exposed to it and yet did not die or show symptoms of nerve gas. It was probably some sort of sedative gas, intended to put the residents to sleep so they wouldn't resist.
