“CSI” is no more at CBS.

The network has canceled “CSI: Cyber” after two seasons on the air, putting an end to a crime-drama franchise that stretches back to 2000. The show was CBS’ lowest-rated drama this season, averaging a 0.9 same-day rating in adults 18-49.

There had been some speculation that the show’s attachment to the globally popular (and profitable) “CSI” franchise would be enough to save the show for a third season, but that turned out not to be the case.

The four “CSI” shows produced 795 episodes over a collective 36 seasons and played a big part in CBS’ success over the past 15 years. The original series ran the longest, 15 seasons and 335 episodes plus a two-hour series finale movie earlier this season.

They should never have canceld CSI: NY. It was the best version. The original should have been canceled long ago.
