A stage Magician is under full scrutiny-no cuts or re-takes allowed...

The only way i can see how this show works if that it is in takes: Take/cut/take/cut/take/cut/edit together

They setup a situation, cut, rearrange it, film it, cut, film a reaction, cut, and then edit them all together to look seamless

This is not how Magicians usually works
Not really magic, just in camera special effects

perfect example:

new take: camera "catches" a person coming up to MC
MC has a small frog which he has hidden inside plant pot;
he puts pot down again on top of the frog

CUT

stage hand off camera brings a huge frog in and places it under the plant pot

filming re-starts and is focused on the pot

MC lift pot off frog and SUDDENLY ITS A HUGE BULLFROG!!!!

CUT

Meanwhile, the 'target' who has been standing around the whole time bored out of her mind, while this is being set up,
is told to "LOOK SHOCKED!"

Take 1: girl looking shocked!

CUT

edit together, bake at 350 degrees for one hour serves millions

This is simply not true. Every reaction on "The Carbonaro Effect" is genuine. Michael is a real magician and is currently touring the country with a live show. We've also showed many moments where the so-called "magic shot" is in one, unedited shot. However, this usually means avoiding cutting to the real person as they speak to Michael, and our network doesn't like that. Here's an example of a shot we fought hard for. The camera focuses on Michael for 30+ seconds, as he sets up a box... steps in front of it... and reveals an oppossum in the same shot: https://youtu.be/5FO92qh0o-c?t=1m7s

Our Network execs repeatedly wanted us to cut to the woman as she spoke to Michael, and we fought against it. Does it make it a better trick for magic purists? Sure. But it doesn't neccesarily make it a better "hidden-camera" show.

Nice! Do you always lie about the show?

Not good to respond impolitely to someone who's trying to provide accurate information.

Shows like this can't be faked. It would require too many people to be in on the secret and the "secret" would soon get out.

Same with conspiracy theories. They usually are very involved, but forget that their complexity means too many people would have to be involved. It wouldn't last as a secret.

"Two can keep a secret if one is dead," goes the old saying.

Either you are clueless or you work for the network. Which is it?

I do have this question . . .

I just discovered the show a few weeks ago. I like it. Michael is very engaging, and the circulate answers he gives while trying to keep the inquisitive people at bay are really very funny.

But . . . I just saw the episode where the gal comes in with copying to be done - it's for (according to the original to be copied) Millie's Coffee Shop. But having read that this particular flier had fake information, I was able to confirm that neither the coffee shop, the shopping center, or the phone number exist.

Was this because the gal trying to obtain the copies was innocently sent by someone linked to the show?

The show's great. I like it. A great successor to the tradition of Candid Camera and, more recently, Just For Laughs.

Many skits are set up like this.

One of my favorite is the fuy getting a photo frammed and the baby disappears in the photo.

Someone set that up, maybe the guy wasnt aware of it, but someone set him up, only way to photoshop a photo in time

Or better yet when someone is looking specifically for what his prop is.... like that lady looking for the candlestick thing for her class she is doing at the thrift shop
